The Dailies: March 15

Daily Person
Chrysanthe Tenentes from Brooklyn, New York works for foursquare and also runs Brooklyn Beat, an email newsletter about Brooklyn.
What are you excited about seeing this year?
I’m just really excited to be here with foursquare. I’ve been using foursquare for so long and it works so well on this scale, in a place like this, where there are so many people around and discovering new places.
Have any promotional items or events stood out to you so far?
Well I’ve been drinking a lot of the free Sobes which is refreshing in the Texas sun. I’m staying for music and I’m pretty excited about the Levi’s/Fader fort. I’ve been hearing good things about the IFC house.
Do you think street marketing works?
Well, I just ate one of those free bars they were handing out. Its funny because there are things that I wouldn’t necessarily buy–like, I don’t normally buy bars. But here I ate them and I guess if I was shopping with somebody that was in the market for a bar I might recommend it. If it’s not too obtrusive then I end up having a good impression of the company, I guess that’s in the back of my mind.
If you go to a branded party, are you more likely to use their product? I was actually outside the Pure Volume house last night and thinking about that. This is the fourth year that I’ve been here and Pure Volume has sponsored many late night parties at which I’ve had many late nights and I don’t really know what Pure Volume is. And a bunch of people were talking about that.
Daily T-shirt
Craig McRea was dawdling around the Convention Center lobby in this interesting t-shirt. It says “Round Arch Rocks” and came from the 2008 summer party thrown by Round Arch, the company Craig works for. They are a website builder with offices in New York, Chicago, and Boston.
Daily Branding
It looks like eDoorways.com printed a bunch of two-sided fliers about their SOLVE service to hand out and then decided to use them as posters, too. The language is vague and repetitive and there’s lots of it, which just proves once again that brochures do not make good posters. The call-to-action is there (giving their booth number for the trade show going on) but it’s crammed down into the bottom of the page.
Daily namedrop
I overheard one out-of-towner telling his buddy about his favorite band scheduled to play tonight at Emo’s. The punk band turned progressive rock outfit called Rx Bandits is signed under Sargent Records. They were once called Pharmacuetical Bandits but the record company squares made them change their name to something less drug-related - at least that’s what I was told. Rxbandits.com is a refreshingly pretty website worth checking out.
