The Dailies: March 17

Daily Person
We got Micheal’s comments on SXSW branding while he waited in line to see the Splinters at Red 7. He’s in town from San Francisco “just checkin’ out shows and hangin’ out.”
What are you excited about seeing this year?
I don’t know there are so many things. jj. I want to see jj.
What brand-sponsored parties are you looking forward to?
The Terrorbird party. But not because of the sponsors, just because it’s a fun party.
If you go to a branded party, are you more likely to use their product?
No not really. Probably not. It wouldn’t have that kind of effect on me.
Daily T-shirt
Here’s a bright band shirt from Rubblebucket Orchestra. This guy assured us they would not be playing SXSW this week.
Daily Branding
Computer screen cleaner is something I never knew I needed. Eset.com (who we previously blogged about here) thinks you should feel the same way about their virus protection subscription service. They set up a street team who handed out these spray bottles alongside a plexiglass cage entrapping a laptop with about 50 giant roaches. The other side of the paper tag attached to the spray says “Think computers only get nasty on the outside?” A small, lightweight promotional item, with a simple design and a clever concept should be quite effective with the SXSW set- it’s useful and doesn’t look or feel like trash. Nice that they include their Twitter and Facebook links on the tag as well.
Daily namedrop
The European couple we stopped outside the Convention Center were excited to see South Carolina’s Toro Y Moi playing tonight at the Mohawk. They recently released their second album Crusers of This.
